Daisy Daisy!

(pictures taken with SE K550i)

I remembered a song in my head since I was just a little girl...
I only remember two words, or rather, one word, from the song...
that's "Daisy, Daisy..." the rest is "lalala la la la"...

I didn't understand a word of it then,
as I was just starting school... and learned the song from one English Children tv show...
which I can't remember also... what I do remember is that it's British, it has to be...
it's a children's tv show that read and introduce children's book... Book Tower...
yes, I think that's it, "The Book Tower"... I used to love watching this show
even though I don't get to really own any of the books...

Anyway, "Daisy Daisy" was one of the songs that was sung repetitiously in that tv programme...

And now, internet has made it possible for me to find out more about the song that I only know how to sing first two words... from the chorus... (the song was writtent in 1891!!!)

Here's the full lyrics... and for more information about the song click here

There is a flower within my heart
Daisy, Daisy
Planted one day by a glancing dart
Planted by Daisy Bell

Whether she loves me or loves me not
Sometimes it's hard to tell
Yet I am longing to share the lot
Of beautiful Daisy Bell

Chorus:
Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do
I'm half crazy all for the love of you
It won't be a stylish marriage
I can't afford a carriage
But you'll look sweet upon the seat
Of a bicycle built for two

We will go 'tandem' as man and wife
Daisy, Daisy
Ped'ling away down the road of life
I and my Daisy Bell

When the road's dark, we can both despise
Policemen and lamps as well
There are bright lights in the dazzling eyes
Of beautiful Daisy Bell

Chorus...

I will stand by you in "wheel" or woe
Daisy, Daisy
You'll be the bell(e) which I'll ring you know
Sweet little Daisy Bell

You'll take the lead in each trip we take
Then if I don't do well
I will permit you to use the brake
My beautiful Daisy Bell.

Chorus...

Penguin Friday

I hate having court attendance on Friday...
Maybe I was pampered, by the previous company I worked for in KL and the KL Firm where I chambered, into thinking Friday is casual day and that means jeans day... and that means soon after work we could go HAPPY HOURS!

Anyway, it's not like that in KK... here everyone is so friendly and carefree but when it comes to work attire... they are damn serious! Just come to the Firm I work with, you'd see all the office ladies wearing all professional looking suits while me, the lawyer wears like the office girl... anyway, habit acquired from 10 years in KL can't be eliminated just like that...

So I had to first grumble about the "over-dressing" issue in KK! I remember the first dinner function I went to... it was a farewell dinner to a judge. The invitation card states dress code as "Smart Casual" so I wore a blouse with a pair of cotton slacks... when I reach the ballroom I found myself to be the only person who bothered to go with the dress code. The rest all wore their fancy sexy dinner dresses complete with ballroom accessories (those small little pouch... the scarf... the do up hairstyles etc)... goodness! Instead of feeling neasy of "wearing something as instructed" I felt so awkward through the dinner!

Coming back to court attendance on Friday...

If it's Friday, and the court attendance is to the Sessions Court, that would be only one Sessions Court Judge's matter... and I guess the other lawyers all of which are my senior (I'm the lowest ranking in the firm... can see from the letterhead, hahaha!) just hate going to her court, so I'd end up the one going. I really don't mind being ridicule by this particular judge, she nags but she make sense... she's particular but that just show she is serious about what she's doing and won't take nonsense excuses. Just be prepared and know what you're doing, and I'm sure everyone is fine. Being a lawyer means having to have thick skin anyway... so I'd just have to be prepared for the bombarding... go on full guard and be alert to ditch all the mistles and rockets... :)

But I still hate going to the Court on Friday, not because of the judge, not because of the walk I had to make to the court, but because I hate to wear the full armour of black and white ~ the Penguin Suit!

SIGH! SIGH! SIGH!

Tune Hotel Here I come!

Decided to try out the Tune Hotel during my shopping spree in KL this coming August...

4 nights stay without aircon cost RM250 for a double room... Staying alone in a hotel I'm not familiar with might not be such a good idea, so I've last minute decided to bring mom along.

Conned my two brothers to pay for mom's airticket... I'll foot the room rates... hahahaha!

Let's hope come August is good weather to travel... and lots of SALE waiting for me...

August... a bit far away from April ya? Sigh...

Smartbag

This Smartbag was recommended by a friend...
"good way to save space" for my backpack travelling to Macau in Dec this year!
She graciously got her brother who's in Singapore to buy for me.
It cost SGD15 for two bags of size 400 x 500... erm, doesn't look so big to me...
wonder how many clothes can it fit in one bag...
still very suspicious of its usefulness...

It's really too early to start "packing" for Macau now, but I sure hope it would come to good use when I finally got to pack for Macau near end of this year...

On the other hand, I'd also need a big backpack bag...
have no idea how to get a useful good quality backpack at the moment...

L? As you will be travelling with me and has so much backpacking experience.
You have any idea?

My Dream Car

It has always been the VW Beetle that captured my heart...
Oh... when I love something it's not the specs... nope it was never the specs
just the LOOKS.... :)

So don't ask me about the engine... I know nothing about the Beetle's engine...

To me, none other car can surpass VW Beetle's cuteness, ever, SERIOUS!

Sadly, I can't afford having one... and I don't know if I'd ever afford having one!!!

Renovation Freak

One of the reason why I don't fancy buying a landed property is because of people like this...

and this...

and this

and like this

I just don't get these people... if you have so much of extra money to renovate a "humble" terrace house into a "castle" why didn't you just get a bungalow or build your own "fancy designer" house on your private property???

And DBKK? Where are you?

Cannot Pay or Dispute Claim

It's another Monday where I have court to attend...

This time, 5 cases in a row
plus 3 that I had to appear on behalf of one of the partner's wife's firm!

So I went to the Magistrates... 3 on behalf cases were called timely and done with...
but... of the 5 cases, 3 were unserved and were given new dates...
so I have only 2 more to go... so I thought...

At the end, I was stranded on "the Tallest Magistrates Court" (those who practice in KK will know which magistrates court this refers to)... until 12pm because the court couldn't locate one particular file!

... as I had to wait there, I get to see what I don't normally see... (as I normally had my cases called early and will leave the court when the court is still full of "debtors")...

Anyway, there is this guy that said he cannot pay the amount claimed by the plaintiff (a bank)...
and the court actually gave him time to file defence!

What's wrong?

The problem here is... it was not asked of the defendant whether he is disputing or admitting the claim itself!

Cannot afford to pay (tidak dapat/mampu/larat mau bayar) does not mean he is disputing the claim!

When a person dispute a claim, he is saying he does not owe the plaintiff any money in the first place, and that he is being wrong sued in court... accordingly he had to file in defence laying out the facts that show that he does not owe the money!

When a person said he cannot pay, that could mean he is admitting the plaintiff's claim but just simply can't pay!

The magistrates in this case doesn't seem to understand this... and despite being reminded by the plaintiff's counsel to ask the debtor if he is disputing or admitting the claim... the magistrates gave time for the debtor to file in his defence stating why he cannot pay! Sigh...

Yoga Breathing

I had trouble with having enough enough air for my flute playing...

I find it difficult to understand what my teacher meant when he said I should be breathing with my diaphragm not with my lungs...

I mean, of course we breath with our lungs... can be put air into our stomach?

And then, I remembered someone suggested that yoga exercise might help a flute player in breathing problems... so I surfed the net and got this from Health & Yoga :

First, lie down on your back, relaxed, with hands and legs outstretched and eyes looking up at the roof. Gently close your eyes and relax.

Step 1: Abdominal breathing

Observe your natural breath. You will notice that as you inhale the abdomen rises and then falls with exhalation. Watch this for a few moments to check this flow. Now begin to deepen, lengthen and extend that movement. That is, while inhaling, let the abdomen rise to its limit and at exhalation let it fall completely. Keep the chest still during this entire process ・only move the abdomen. Continue this for 20 breaths and then rest.

Step 2: Thoracic (chest) breathing

Again observe your normal breath, this time focusing your attention on the chest. You will notice the chest moving slightly up at inhalation and down with exhalation. Again observe this pattern for a few moments. Now again, begin to deepen, lengthen and extend that movement. This time, on inhalation expand and lift the rib cage, filling the lungs completely. Then on exhalation, let the lungs collapse fully, sinking to the limits. In this step, keep the abdomen still, moving only the chest. Do this for 20 breath cycles and then stop

Step 3: Full Yogic breathing

This combines the above 2 steps in the following way:
First inhale by filling the abdomen and then CONTINUE inhaling as you expand and fill the chest. Then exhale first from the chest as it empties and falls and then CONTINUE exhaling from the abdomen as it draws inwards completely. This is one round of the full yogic breath. Repeat this for 20 rounds.

Remember the pattern・Inhaling - abdomen then chest; Exhaling ・chest then abdomen.

Now I think I understand a bit...
