Pianica Concert

Many asked me why am I so JAPANORAMA...

Here's one of the reason:

Aren't they just cute... and I mean super cute -- "cho kawaii"!

When I appear as a lawyer in robe

One price a lawyer has to pay is to be thick skinned!

It was my first high court appearance today... yup! OPEN COURT
having to wear the bid and robe all...

The "extravagant attire" aside... I am but a dog (or bitch?) with tail between my legs...

It went well at first:
Me: May it please you, your Lordship, My Name is V and Ms xxx here is for the OR... petition has been served My Lord

Judge: OR, papers in order?

OR: the petitioner did not file in the form in accordance to rule 29

Judge: Ms V?

Me: My Lord, we didn't file in the list of creditors as there weren't any...

Judge: so Ms V, the OR says your papers are not in order, what should you say?

Me: erm... then I will file in the requested papers as requested.

Judge: do you agree to the OR?

Me: yes... ...

Judge: you agree... then you have to get a new date, file the papers again, serve to all parties, who's gonna bear the cost?

Me: ... ... (blur)

Judge: isn't there a rule that says the court can despense with formality?

Me: ... ... (desperately flipping the Winding-up Rules I grabbed from the OR)

Judge: come on tell me the rule number...

Me: ... (panicking)

Judge: Any other lawyer in the court room that knows which rule... tell me

(some one whispered rule 194)

Me: Rule 194, my Lord...

Judge: I will put down here, Ms V invoked rule 194... OIT...

Me: ... (relieved)

Although it wasn't really a pleasant experience, but I come to respect the judge even more. Many knows him as strict and harsh... to me, he has actually given me free and good legal training today... from now on, I will forever remember rule 194 of the Companies Winding Rules...

Asus EeePC

Brand new gadget in town... the Asus EeePC is here (well, West Malaysia)...

It's MINI size laptop... one that I have been dreaming about...
a small enough laptop to carry everywhere but NOT A PDA
(I just don't like PDA... looks so UNCOOL!)

Mini laptop... so how "mini"?

Only the length of one stretched out hand... that MINI!

Pretty neat huh?
Arrgh... I'd look so cook to have this at the courts and...
wifi away the "everlasting waiting time" there!

I WANT ONE! DEFINITELY!

Drawbacks?
It only has a solid hdd of 4G (max 8G)...
But it is not meant to be a PC anyway but more of a mobile laptop...
one that you carry around using as a tool surfing, chatting...

Best thing I like?
White color design... yay... match my white SonyEricsson, kee kee kee!

Salted Vege Meehoon

Kapin (Inanam)'s new menu... salted vege meehoon

It is akin to Fish Head Meehoon... but instead of meehoon, you get fish fillet... very very yummy!

The shoup is nice, the meehoon is just rightly sourish... and the ginger augmented the soup base...
ooh! Simply delicious, this is the kind of dish that I could come back for!

EZnet 1315

It's another blackout day today... SEB is failing its customer again.

We endured the whole day without the "privilege" of electricity... I was on my Acer Travelmate so I could still use the computer on battery... but the streamyx modem is on AC and so I was deprived of the internet, my life! Gosh I was swearing SEB this morning...

Then I thought why can't I dial-up? So I desperately tried to log into 1515 using the Streamyx username and password... of course is was just a "desperate attempt" which "failed miserably"!

    Macau Here I come!

Actually bought air tickets bound for Macau today!

    Can't believe it myself...

Travel period?? 18 Dec to 25 Dec!!!

That's like 9 months from now!

We will not know what will be then...

But come what may, we bought the tickets first, and will think about
    "the consequence" later :)

Will be going with L who will fly from JB while I fly from KK,
we synchonised our schedule so that we would arrive at around the same time.

However, we can't synchronise the departure time,
so I'd be stranded in Macau on the departure day until 730pm while L would have left for JB at 11am the same day.

Whatever, tickets are bought, no turning back now.
And lets not think about it much till its time! :)

    AirAsia Treat

Yay! It's the special treat from Airasia again... free tickets is BACK!

    50,000 free seats!

Mind you, "free" does not mean "zero costs"!

But anway, it's cheap enough for me to afford a trip to Kuala Lumpur for a shopping spree!

I've bought return tickets to KL on 21-25 August 2008, just in time for the Christian Book Fair there!

How much? RM140 only! Return tickets! One trip RM70...

And I plan to stay at Tune Hotel... but they are not open for August booking yet!

Hope I would be able to get the RM9.99 per night stay...

    Christian Louis Heinrich Köhler

    Kohler, 5 Sep 1820 - 16 Feb 1886

I've decided resume my piano learning on my own and am now re-practicing my piano lesson book - Tuneful Graded Studies by Dorothy Bradley.

The first lesson is on Fingerwork and the etude is composed by Kohler, who was a German composer, conductor, and piano teacher. He lived in the period when Liszt (1811-1886) and Wagner (1813-1883)were living.

Piano playing has been much more interesting now that I know more about the composer!

A Reply from Fong Sang Yik

I received the following message from a (no name) in relation to my earlier post about this particular shop (which I've only read today). I was surprised to get a reply from the Shop itself [(no name) seems to claim to be the taukeh himself]... as my blog has hardly any traffic.... Nevertheless, as requested, I will post the message here. You'll be the judge... I will refrain from any further comment.

I regret to know your experence.

I like to high light to you we are not Seiko service centre or repair center of any kind.

our main business is watch retail. How ever we still provide after sales service at our discretion.

Our after sales service is mainly to  back up our customer and regulars. Repair and service is too time consuming.

We see no wrong doing in focusing on our core business ( we were at the point of closing deal) and neglected your business.

I can only agree we are wrong if you have purchased the mentioned watch from us and we do not provide you the back up needed .

What i was doing in my office is only your guess, i do not think it is right for you commence on that issue.I could be doing some thing more  important than what you have in mind. Sorry i can not recall if i have met you .

I apologize to you for did not gave you smiling faces at the time you were in our shop. Through out the year we may have ups and downs it could be a day the sun is not bright. We did not smile do not mean we are rude.Is there any one who keep smiling faces 365 days a year.

There are times our mind get carry away by bad luck or other more important things and response poorly to our surrounding hence we neglected people. We are sorry for that

Replacing a battery is not as simple as every one thinks .

    1) to open the case back without damage the back case .

    2) to close the case back without damage the watch.

    3) what quality of service you want.

In malaysia we do not get pay for opening & closing customer's watch instead We face the potential risk of damaging and pay for the damage it if we do not put enought care and attention to the job. We only get pay on condition the hands tickle. Walk in repair is our last priority.

For your case if we gave full attention to you and made the other customer feel being neglected we will lost our RM1000.00 sales .To make things worse if your seiko watch is not working after putting a new battery or you do not agree with my term of service we will have nothing.

We sometime take the risk of losing potential sales and turn our attention to repair service but this is only to our regulars and repeat customers.

The better way to juge an operator is to base on their commitment and responsibilty.

to close this once again i like to high light to you i do not recall we have met and my reply is totally base on your story and business logic.

    Work and No Play

... made me a very grumpy person!

I seriously don't know if I could hang on till end of this month
and now I was told my assistant will only come first week of April!

If I could survive practive on my own, without my superior and an experienced staff since December last year... I don't really need an assistant already, do I?

    Sigh...

Files are piling up on my desk now,
with more piling up on the desk of the "invisible assistant"'s desk outside my office.

I have no mood to follow up on the cases,
no more energy to rush the urgent cases,
and wish I was not in the office at all!

Had lunch also today at Kampar... ordered TomYam.
    But it taste... erm
Staled? Or just taste Weird I will find out when I have or not stomach disturbance later...

    Total of 8 prawns provided!

    A few Flutists

Since I'm taking up the instrument, I figure I should know more about those who are passionate about the flute to become a pro and made their names!

Here are three, from three generations :)

    Jean-Pierre Louis Rampal (7 Jan 1922 - 20 May 2000)
    the Grandfather... (French)
began playing the flute at the age of 12!

    Sir James Galway , 69 (born 8 Dec 1939)
    the father... (Irish)

    Emmanuel Pahud , 38 (born 27 Jan 1970)
    the son... (French-Swiss)
started to learn the flute at the age of 6!

    How's that... :)

I'm listening to Jean-Pierre Rampal, will be listening to Sir James Galway... and hopefully, found some of Emmnuel Pahud's playing... :)

    Election Day 2008

Yupe, it's the BIG DAY... the ELECTION DAY... the date 3808 is auspicious enough...
and it's honory enough coz it will be the first VOTE of my life!

First, to the Semakan booth (even though I have already printed out the semakan from the internet,
I was told I still need to queue to get the "nombor" which is already printed in my Semakan List I got from the internet!

Anyway, I obeyed... and queue up!

After that, to my "destined voting room" -- No 3:
as you can see, a long queue has already build up... :s

So... I patiently... queued up... for more than 30 minutes to get to the steps
    .......

    After voting...

I had to become a temporary traffic assistant to get my brother's car out of the place coz the small hill road leading up the sekolah is lined up with cars both sides!

    (this is a BEFORE picture)

and took went in to took pictures... :)

Can't seem to be able to get over this dorama...

... the music, the characters... the story... especially the music!

If I have a kid... I'd be sure to make him/her musical... at whatever price or cost!

Hahahaha.... just because I wanted to be want but can't...

    Some scenes from the dorama:

    Romantic right? Hahahah!

    RUDE client

Recently inherited this file from my boss which is just a simple SPA matter... matter is simple all right but both the Vendor and the Purchaser are a different story all together.

This is my first experience handling two nasty person (both coincidently are of the female species). Expecially this woman by the name of AL (oh she has a temper)!

She is asking me for a favour and when I try to explain to her (softly, of course) that it's not within my job scope as a lawyer, she raised her voice and yelled at me!

I sure think she has an attitude problem... she doesn't know how to talk to people in a nice way. She could have asked me nicely saying that she's outstation (a fact which was not known to me before she yelled) and ask me if I could help her send the forms to the brother who is also outstation.

This matter has been ding-dong'ing from purchaser and vendor and vendor's brother each telling me different story.

Purchaser said she will liaise with Vendor directly. Vendor will call me asking me why hasn't this and that be done. When I said, her brother told me this and that, she said that's not right. How am I supposed to know which is right which is not between or amongst them when each is giving me different stories?

When she was raising her voice over the phone... I had to take a deep breath before replying her lest my lost my temper and hang up the phone on her!

Anyway, after I put down the phone, I felt that I am being so stupid of being patient with her... here is this woman asking me to do her a favour with raised voice... and I apologise to her! I am such an idiot! I should have told her off "nicely":

Woman, you are asking me for a favour, could you please be more polite!

Arrrrrrrrrrgh... I think I seriously need to learn how to scold people!

    who will get my vote

Little if not nothing is known about any of the candidates in the constituency I'm voting...

This will be my "virgin vote", so it's very important who I gave it to right?

But by the looks of these fellas...
and the lack of any information about them available...
has made it an extremely difficult to decide who should I vote for.

Only PBS bothered to list profiles to their candiates (although information very limited but better than none) in their website. [It's most probably because they are BN and has the money to afford such website]

It's such a pity I can't even get any credentials or background or even some profile information about the candidates from their own party websites!!! That really shows how "important" this election is to the parties!

Even just to get a picture of them each has been a painstaking task!
How to vote for people whom
I can't seem to find their noses anywhere (batang hidung pun tak nampak)?

About the candidates, there're four standing for election in my constituency.

    Two from Sabah local parties:

     Johnny Goh (PBS)

Below are his profile gathered from PBS website:
    Born on 13 February 1957.
Holds a Diploma in Public Administration from the Mara Institute of Technology, Malaysia.
Married to Evelyn Sigar and they have 4 children.
Was a member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the N.12 Inanam constituency since 13 March 1999.

Although he stays near... within a mile from my house.
I've never seen him face to face...
Not ever... this picture of his, was my first encounter of him!
I don't know him... although I've heard quite a lot of complaints about him...
Not doing this not doing that...

    Clarence Chin (Pasok as Bebas)

[I scanned his picture from his flyer]

Aside from claiming to be the oldest party in Sabah, I know nothing about PASOK.
And I surely have no idea who Clarence Chin is...
Is he from Inanam... where did he schooled?...
What has be contributed to Inanam?

As for the other two candidates from West Malaysia?
Halor... why on earth would I want to vote for West Malaysia Opposition?

    Daniel John Jambun (Keadilan)
Nothing can be said about him at all...

    Pastor Jeffrey Kumin (DAP)
    A pastor in politics?
Gosh... Basel Church has had bad experience about that... nightmarish...

You can see it leaves me not much choice but to UNDI ROSAK!

    My prediction for the result:

BN will lose Inanam... (Johnny Goh has been in the seat for too long and has not been seen to be doing things for too long)!
Keadilan and DAP cannot win (Inanam still very much anti WEST)
So... there's great chance PASOK although standing as BEBAS will win!
Inanam is still a Kadazan Dusun majority community and the anti government sentiment is high...
Although Kolombong area has big chinese community, these chinese are migrants from other constituency and probably don't vote for Inanam consituency so their existence (and their complaints) is not of much significance!
