Fish and Co and Diarrhea

If you have also had this at New York Fish and Chips at Fish & Co (Warisan Square) on 24 Nov 2007, like me and my colleagues did... then I am sure something is wrong with their fish!

I didn't finish the food as I felt "fishy" about the fish... I suffered stomach disturbance at night and in the morning but was ok after a few "free trips" to the washroom...

My other collegue who finished it sufferred food poisoning!

Thus far, my dining experiences at Warisan Square has not been once pleasant (well except the one we had at Tu Long now known as Heng Long)... Secret Recipe, the prawns were leftovers - being refried and fried again... La Manila which does not serve any Philipines cuisine (how I long for Tinola Soup)... Olde Station Kopithiam, coffee too sweet even though I have specifically asked for "kopi kurang manis"... maybe they thought I meant "kurang manis" as in "tidak senonoh"!

Alam Damai ~ Dream Home?

To buy or not to buy is not the question...
the problem is whether I can afford to buy!

About being old

A friend of mine was lamenting on how she was being called "madam"...

Another friend sought to comfort her by quoting her the following:

The other day a young person asked me how I felt about being old.
I was taken aback, for I do not think of myself as old.
Upon seeing my reaction,
she was immediately embarrassed,
but I explained that it was an
interesting question,
and I would ponder it, and let her know.
Old Age, I decided, is a gift.
I am now, probably for the first time in my life,
the person I have always wanted to be.
Oh, not my body!
I sometime despair over my body, the wrinkles, the baggy eyes, and the sagging butt.
And often I am taken aback by that old person that lives in my mirror (who looks like my mother!),
but I don't agonize over those things for long.
I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life,
my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly.
As I've aged, I've become more kind to myself, and less critical of myself.
I've become my own friend.
I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie,
or for not making my bed,
or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need,
but looks so avante garde on my patio.
I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.
I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon;
before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.
Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon?
I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60&70's,
and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love ...
I will.
I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body,
and will dive into the waves with abandon if I
choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set.
They, too, will get old.
I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten.
And I eventually remember the important things.
Sure, over the years my heart has been broken.
How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one,
or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car?
But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion.
A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.
I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray,
and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face.
So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.
As you get older, it is easier to be positive.
You care less about what other people think.
I don't question myself anymore.
I've even earned the right to be wrong.
So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free.
I like the person I have become.
I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here,
I will not waste time lamenting what could have been,
or worrying about what will be.
And I shall eat dessert every single day.
(If I feel like it)

To me, there are some good points there but I don't think it would help at all to us who are being called old when we are just in our 30s and people start calling you "aunty"

When I am 60s 70s, I will not mind being called "grandma" coz I AM old...

but when I am in my youth (30s is still youth right?) and people (who are just 5-6 years younger) start calling me auntie... of course I am furious lar mar!

wait till people start calling you AH SUM lar...
you will know how I feel then!

My Favourite Christmas Song

Christmas don't be late - by Alvin and the Chipmunks

(all right you Chipmunks! Ready to sing your song? -I'll say we are! -Yeah! -Let's sing it now! Okay, Simon? -Okay! Okay, Theodore? -Okay! Okay, Alvin? Alvin? ALVIN! -OKAY!!!)

Christmas, Christmas time is near
Time for toys and time for cheer
We've been good, but we can't last
Hurry Christmas, hurry fast
Want a plane that loops the loop
Me, I want a hula hoop
We can hardly stand the wait
Please Christmas, don't be late.

Okay fellas get ready That was very good, Simon. -Naturally. Very good Theodore. -Ahhh. Ah, Alvin, you were a little flat, watch it. Ah, Alvin. Alvin. ALVIN! -OKAY.

Want a plane that loops the loop
I still want a hula hoop
We can hardly stand the wait
Please Christmas, don't be late.
We can hardly stand the wait
Please Christmas, don't be late.

Very good, boys -Lets sing it again! Yeah, lets sing it again! No, That's enough, lets not overdo it -What do you mean overdo it? -We want to sing it again! Now wait a minute, boys -Why can't we sing it again? -[chipmunk chatter] Alvin, cut that out..Theodore, just a minute. Simon will you cut that out? Boys...

Miri II

Flying to Miri for the second time, and this time, by Airasia...

The flight only took 30 mins, half an hour earlier than the expected 50 minutes air time!

The last I flew with MAS was about a couple of years ago and I don't remember it being such a short flight...

Anyway, I arrived safely but had to wait to be picked up by friends as I was early...

Had migraine so had to stop somewhere for coffee and some food before swallowing 2 panadols...

Friends brought me to his kopithiam which as simply named "Sau Pau"!

Had a Sau Pau and a Yam Pao

So yummy, I couldn't resist having the first bite before taking a shot of the pau... hee hee!

After that, friends dropped me at the Imperial Hotel for me to have a short rest and to get dressed up for the wedding reception at night.

I'm sleeping on this BIG BED tonight... yay yay!

Beh (aka Bear) and Chiew... lovey dovey...

SEK550i

Yay! Finally bought a new handphone...

Spent RM868 for this Original Set.

Actually I could have bought an Set at RM550 but...
I still prefer to buy ori set for peace of mind.

At first I was so determined in getting a clamshell...
but the SE clamshell design is just a bit...

So I end up getting this conventional K550i
because I like it being white... and the metal keys
and OF COURSE the CyberShot logo there... hee hee!

Japanese Lawyer's Badge

The Sun Flower and the Scales

This is the Lawyer's Badge determined by the Japan Federation of Bar Associations.

Carved in the middle of the golden sun flower is a little silver scale,
representing the legal profession's magestic idealism.

The sun flower that surely blooms towards the sun symbolises the light of justice,
the scale reminds one of the wings of freedom, sensitve to any inclination,
symbolises the seek for fairness and equality.

These show the motto of the lawyers:

"Freedom and Justice,
Fairness and Equality!"

The Price of Beauty

People say, "There are no ugly women, just lazy women."

Meaning it's the woman's fault of not making an effort to make herself pretty...
can that be true?

I'd say, "There are no ugly women, yes... only POOR women!"

Do you how much it cost to look sleak and trendy?

Aside the fashion and leathers...

Just making sure your face and body is "presentable"...

let's see...

Facial Peel: RM800
Laser Teeth Whitening: RM500-1,500
Eyelash Extension: RM50-100
Hair Rebonding: RM300-500

... Actually, after listing down the prices, I think a lot of people will find it afforadable... just "poor" me! If only I have a few thousand to spare I can "recreate" myself! :)
